Furo
1 product
Furo is the Japanese word for 'bath'. In Japan, the tradition of taking a bath started centuries ago. First just to get clean; later for relaxation as well.
In current day Japan, taking a Furo has remained a cultural ritual. When entering a public bath house visitors receive a small and a large towel. The large towel remains in the changing room; the small one is taken to the bath house. Prior to entering the warm water visitors must wash themselves completely using the small towel and when completely clean, visitors are then permitted to enter the warm water. Traditionally, the small towel is not allowed to touch the water; Japanese people often carry it on their heads. The bathing water at the public baths is used by everybody which is why it is so important to enter the water completely clean. Since cleansing the body has already taken place before entering the water, the total experience is considered as a way of relaxing.
